Plumber sentenced for tax evasion

Our most recent tax chat highlights HMRC’s latest voluntary disclosure regime targeting Internet sales.  Further to this, we thought it worthwhile to draw your attention to just how HMRC are cracking down.

HMRC also ran a voluntary disclosure regime for plumbers last year and this article details what happened to a plumber who failed to declare his income over a prolonged period of time and did not take advantage of the amnesty offered by HMRC.

Furthermore, this is not the only case, HMRC arrested at least 5 others and are reported to have investigated more than 600 other cases.
