Huddersfield Partnership₁ is proud to announce that Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival₂ 2014 launch the ‘You’re Welcome’ campaign to support local charity The Welcome Centre – Food Bank and
The Welcome Centre supports individuals and families in extreme crisis in Huddersfield. Last year, the Centre saw a massive increase in the need for their service as they gave out over 8600 packs and the number is expect to increase this year.
The Welcome Centre relies on donations of food and money to continue supporting those in need. To show our support for this excellent charity Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival, with the help of the Piazza Centre, have teamed up with the Welcome Centre in the hope that stallholders and members of the general public will provide donations in any way, shape and form to support families in real crisis across Huddersfield.
Heading up the campaign, Karen Hobson Partnership Manager of Huddersfield Partnership said:
“We felt moved to showcase and support the work of this great charity and giving back to families living in the town. We are so honoured to be supporting such a worthy cause based in the town centre of Huddersfield. The Centre does a great work in providing practical support families who are in real need. The food festival is a major event in Huddersfield’s calendar and we want it to be as inclusive and reach out to as many people as possible.”
Centre Manager of The Welcome Centre, Karen Selley said:
‘We are so delighted that Huddersfield Partnership, with the help of the Piazza, is supporting the Welcome Centre Food Bank as part of this year’s Food and Drink Festival. The Festival is a big deal so to have the opportunity to be part of something that is for benefit of the town but also wants to support the work of our Centre is truly fantastic. We hope people get on board and support us in order that we can continue to deliver a service that is so obviously needed’.
The Campaign starts now and members of the public can donate directly to the Welcome Centre. Those that donate, quoting that its part of the ‘You’re Welcome’ campaign, will receive a specially designed badge during the festival period, (7th – 10th August) they will also have the opportunity to win a chance to undertake a cookery demonstration with this year’s festival host chef, Phil ‘the Demo Chef’ Leverington.
